Pay It Forward

Wow,  I can't believe it's been over two years since I've blogged.  I guess life was just too boring and I didn't have anything to write about.  HA, as if!  Actually, it's just the opposite...moved into our house, had graduation, sent one to college, had a hospital stay, and so much more.  With the new house out in the sticks, we had a lapse in internet service which got me out of the blogging habit.

Yesterday, Scott had an incident that made me say..."That is soooo blog worthy" and here I am.  Scott stopped at Dunkin' Donuts for his extra tall, grande cup of java.  (That may be Starbuck's lingo not DD, I don't know I'm not a coffee drinker.)  Anyway, he pulls to the window as he counts out $2.14. The cashier has a mischievous smile on her face, leans forward as if confiding a secret, refuses Scott's two dollar bills and 14 cents, and whispers "The car in front of you paid for your order".  Scott is shocked and surprised.  Always one to play along, he says, "Well, I'll just pay for the car behind me.".  The cashier looks at her register, and says, "That will be $8.42.".   As he drives away, Scott mutters, "I think I just got shafted by pay it forward."

So what is the moral of this story?
1.  The person behind you may need more of a pick-me-up than you do?
2.  Sometimes you get in the middle of somebody trying to be nice?
3.  Don't stop for coffee, make it yourself?

Actually, I said "craaaaapppp"; this "pay it forward" cost me $5!

As a follow up; I found out later in the day that it was a friend of my in front of me; not some "good citizen".

Follow up to that--back at DD to get coffee for office (yes, I am nicer than most realize); and asked how long the "pay it forward" lasted.. Answer---- 2 CARS!!!!!!

I had to laugh at this whole scenario! The concept of "pay it forward" is now PC...when it used to just be a nice thing to do. Yes, you were using Starbucks lingo - but, forgiven. BAHAHA on Scott getting shafter for $8.00 of coffee!! I'm going to start following him around - but, hat's off to both of you for sharing!! kwj
