We Went A Gathering
The boys and I had a wild hair today. We decided that we would go to the local berry patch, pick berries and make jelly. So we grabbed lunch and headed for Kelley's Berries outside Lebanon. I made the mistake of asking the boys what kind of berries we wanted. Of course they all had a different opinion. So we picked and picked and picked, ending up with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. When it was all said and done, we headed home with (hold onto your hat), nineteen pounds of berries. The farm really should of weighed us before and after because I think we sampled as many berries as went into our buckets. As I picked, I heard things like, "this strawberry tastes like it already has sugar on it" and "mmmmm, berry-licious". I believe Jared even said, "We can take some of these to Illinois with us.", which his big brother sarcastically responded with, "Mr. Strawberry I'd like you to meet grandma and grandpa.". We had a great time. When we got home, Jacob read the instruction as I made the jam. First we had to google to figure out the difference between jelly and jam. (FYI-jelly is made with fruit juice while jam has crushed fruit) Don't ask me where preserves falls into the mix cause I don't know. We now have six jars of strawberry jam, eight jars of blackberry jam and a blueberry pie waiting to bake. It was a berry good day!

did you bring toilet paper and hold on to your car keys???
haha--I actually came across what looked like a "square" while I was out there and chuckled to myself. City folks in the country...hahah.
If only I had a dollar for everytime I've had to leave a square in the woods, I'd have a fistfull of dollars. That's not a movie I want to see. If Brian had a dollar for everytime, he would make Bill Gates look poor. I remember a time coming back from Atlanta....you know, that trip was chock full of excitement. I have a feeling that this comment string his headed for the toilet. Let's just hope DS is too busy to check in.
You forgot about marmalade. There really is no diference in jam and preserves. However, some people use the term preserve for jam made frome fruit with the seeds still in it, i.e. strawberry, kiwi, etc. If you are curious about marmalade, it is jam made from citrus fruits. If you have a food question ask the fat man.
Can you spare a square?
