It appears as if the stray cat is going to stay, so as responsible pet owners we took Ms. Kitty (Kitty for short) to the vet to be spayed. Before we returned home, the vet had left a message asking us to call him. We had a sneaky suspicion that Ms. Kitty was in the family way. We apprehensively returned the vets call, reluctant to make a pro-life/pro-choice decision on Ms. Kitty's behalf. As it turns out, upon examination, the vet found that Ms. Kitty is actually a neutered male cat. It looks as if we'll have to drop the Ms. and leave it at Kitty.

If you keep the name Kitty, that boy cat will be a total pussy. (I know, I'm a dork.)

Maybe that is also why Oreo hasn't become pregnant! How does one go about checking this?

Can you get Oreo to pee on a stick?

We can't get Oreo to do anything she (or he) doesn't want to. Typical cat! Oreo is MIA for a few days now, hope she (or he) comes back.

Have to try not to get moderated, but it seems like it would be fairly easy to figure out.

Good thing the kids attend public school, so they are well informed. Mom and Dad can't distinguish male from female.

Mark,

I'm so proud of the restraint you've shown. There are so many lines you could cross on this one. :)

ok, I have to weigh in. When an animal gets neutered; they remove part of the visual evidence; thus making it much more difficult to discern. Now, imagine a squirming, meowing, scratching cat on it's back while two or three people stand over it trying to see if there is any "evidence" of gender and you will be taking the darn thing to the vet as well!

And for the record; I too am impressed with GMs restraint. Is it just me, or are you starting to grow up??????? Bummer, you used to be so funny! By the way, GM, ask our youngest about the movie he saw a week or so ago that his uncle GM starred in.. . . . . .

i refused to make ANY comments in fear of crossing any lines...Figured GM would be the first to get moderated. I'm disappointed in you GM....lol

Actually, it's quite simple to tell the difference between a male cat and female cat; however, it really does depend on the cat's willingness to participate...which is rare! I was giving Scott a hard time about not getting it fixed...had him paranoid - cat was getting bigger because his youngest is probably slipping him treats!!!

Birds, on the other hand - very very hard - still haven't figured out on ours and quite frankly, don't care. Their parts are all internal to start with - so - no going in that direction. We refer to ours as he/she/it.
