I'm baaack. Not much to report lately. Lots of ball games. Jacob's team had a very exciting win the other night in the district tournament. They beat a local team that beat us twice during the regular season. Take a look at the size of the other team at http://www.walterjbaird.org/. Our boys came out of the locker room built like typical, athletic 13 year old boys while Walter J looked like high school boys on steroids. Rumor is, some of them should be in high school (strictly rumor I'm sure) but believable when you see them.
Tomorrow night we advance in the tournament. The school is even taking a fan bus. Pretty cool! The gym we are playing in is really old and has great acoustics, making cheering really fun. I may even sing the National Anthem...right. I let you know how it turns out.

A Quick Hello
We're off to Ashland City (that's right exit 24 off I-24) to watch Jacob play ball. I attended my web design class yesterday. Let's just say I'm signed up for the level 2 class next Monday and I purchased Dreamweaver CS3 for Dummies. I'm getting there but still a lot to learn.
Gotta run! Do the snow dance for us--we were in front of the TV this morning with our fingers crossed saying please, please, please just waiting for the news anchor to say our school districts name. As my co-workers husband so eloquently put it, "It's not pretty to see a grown woman beg." We were just a few degrees short of snow. We all know...if there are snowflakes in the South, school is canceled. What are you waiting for...start your snow dance--get jiggy! hahaha

Basketball Season Comes to a Close
Jared had his last regular season basketball game Saturday morning. The team ended their season with a record of 23-0. They were dominant! Jared begins AAU tournament basketball with the first tournament next weekend. They should face a little tougher competition.
Jacob's team started their conference tournament on Saturday as the number 4 seed. They won big and go on to face the number one seed on Tuesday evening.
Gabe signed up for baseball on Saturday. This will be his first try at organized sports. We drove through the park so he could see the field he will play on. He took one look and said with confidence, "I think I can hit one out on this field". I love his enthusiasm!

Happy Almost MLK Day!
Yes! (said in my best Napoleon Dynamite voice) It's a three day weekend thanks to Mr. King. No school on Monday, however, I'm signed up to take a web design class. Yikes! I'm looking forward to my class. I've been asked to take care of our school website. Of course I agreed, but very quickly discovered that I'm in WAY over my head. Right now I'm limping along, updating the site with my very limited knowledge in html code. Hopefully after Monday I'll be able to make wonderful changes (on purpose instead of on accident :)! Wish me luck!

Touche' G.M.
Yes, I know I've been a blogging slacker. We've been busy but nothing too interesting to report. Here's the recap in a nutshell...
Friday--worked the gate at the Central basketball game, where both boys and girls beat our crosstown rival. Lots of fun!
Saturday--Scott worked baseball sign ups, went to Jared's basketball game, & Jared had a friend spend the night.
Sunday--Jared had a make up basketball game where we worked the concession stand.
**Basically a volunteer kind of weekend.
Monday--back to work, Jacob had a game at Harpeth--lost by a basket. HORRIBLE officiating! I normally don't complain about officiating but it was really, really bad!
Tonight--Jared had a game--won by 1 (34-33). A real nail biter!
That's about it. I'll try to get back to posting regularly.

Jacob Makes the Front Page
We had to laugh when we saw the front page of the newspaper since Jacob was sick and only played about 4 minutes of this game. You ask, "If he was sick, why was he playing?" The answer is...because we didn't know he was feeling bad. The basketball team stays after school, eats dinner together then plays the game so we didn't talk to him until after the game. He came home with a fever, headache, cough (which he already had) and a stomach ache. Basically a sweet little bundle of joy.
I took him to the doctor yesterday. The diagnosis was...bronchitis and stomach virus. It's just as unpleasant as it sounds. He's missed the last two days of school but will probably go back tomorrow. I can tell he's starting to feel human again because he's started asking for food.

Blast From the Past
I know all you eighties kids remember the American Gadiator tv show from way back when. Can you believe they have a re-make of the show premiering tonight? I'm a little embarrassed to say that I will be watching. Click on the link below and play the game to see if you have what it takes to become...AN AMERICAN GLADIATOR!

I couldn't beat any of the games...I guess I'll have to be content just watching the Gladiators on tv.

Basketball
Well, back to reality tomorrow. School is back in session. We will all have a rude awakening in the morning (excluding Scott) since we've been staying up late and sleeping in every morning. It will be good to get back to our schedule and a little more structure.
Here's the last half of the boys' basketball schedules.
January 7-Jacob @ Home 6:30pm
(Baseball Spaghetti Supper)
January 8-Jared @ FCS 6:00pm
January 10-Jacob @ Sycamore 6:00pm
January 12-Jared @ FCS 10:00am
January 14-Jacob @ Harpeth 6:00pm
January 15-Jared @ MTCS 6:00pm
January 18-Jared @ MJCA 6:00pm
January 19-Jared @ DCA 9:00am
After January 19th Jacob will start a conference tournament but we don't have the schedule yet. Jared will begin AAU basketball January 25th. As soon as I have a definite schedule I'll post it.

Blog Trivia!
We were on our way to dinner last night when Scott throws out a random fact. I asked how he knew this and he responds with, everyone knows that. So in order to prove him wrong, I'm asking you. Don't cheat and use the internet!
Question: What is the circumference of the world in miles?
I'll tell you the answer in a day or two.

Happy New Year!
I hope this post finds you comfortably tucked on your sofa, immersed in college bowl game football. As 2008 begins, I hope you find happiness in each and every day. My normal resolutions of weight loss and keeping in better touch with family and friends are high on my list but mainly I want to live each day looking for the good that each day offers. Sounds a little sappy, I know, but what does it matter if I'm fat or thin, rich or poor if I can't find joy. That being said, I wish you a joyful 2008!
