Johnny Appleseed

We planted our very own orchard yesterday. Okay, orchard may be a bit too ambitious. We planted two apple trees, two peach trees and two plum trees. I can already taste the pies, jellies and sauces I'm going to make. The boys, however, see work in their future which makes them a little less excited about our new orchard. Hopefully the deer won't eat our trees before they have time to mature.

How big are these trees? Doesn't it take several years for trees to mature enough to produce fruit? I'm just trying to figure if I can plan on apple pie for xmas.

I think we have a pie lover in this family? If you don't have any fruit this Fall, just call me. The trees are loaded at this time ! ! You can make that gm. all the pies he/she can eat!

I think it takes two years before they bear fruit but one of the apple trees has the beginnings of apples and several blossoms.

I do love me some pies. Gotta be fruit pies though, not cream pies.

As a long-time orchard owner and pie lover myself, I do hate to be the bearer bad news - but you might get an apple or two the second year - but after that...it's good to go! (You can always sneak fruit home from the store and make a pie - it get's them everytime!!!)

The fruit tree that we have that does the best is our cherry tree...unfortunately, even though it's always loaded with cherries, we usually only get 3-5 pies out of it...I'm taking bids now.

Last Fall I planted my first pear tree..wonder if I'll have a partridge in pear tree this year??

I think I will plant pinto beans this year, just in case none of our trees bare the fruit that we all invision, then we can revert to the famous pinto bean pie that you all love ! !
