Dinner Anyone?

This is the look I got when they asked, "What's for dinner?" and I replied with "I'm trying something new". You see, I get tired of making the same dishes over, and over, and over, and over--you get the point. Occasionally I'll go through the cookbooks and try a new dish...sometimes they're good and sometimes they're a flop. My latest experiment reminded me of Peter Brady and the "Pork chops and applesauce" episode. Do you know it? I figured if it's good enough for Peter Brady it's good enough for us. WRONG! (By the way, I always thought Peter was cuter than Greg) The recipe called to layer apple pie filling in the bottom of a 8X12 casserole dish, pork chops, and top with prepared stuffing--bake for and hour. It wasn't horrible but it rated a "don't make again" on our family scale. Scott and the boys were sweet, looking for positive things to say. (I like how the stuffing is a little crunchy....)

Now that I've bored you to tears, I'm off to finish my Christmas cards so you'll receive them before the new year.

I have to say as a rule meat and fruit don't mix.I like my meat and taters. I'll save the sweet and fruity stuff for dessert. But I applaud your willingness to try something new. You never know until you try it. I believe anonymous had an opportunity to have a piece of bean pie and her nose turned up, then she took another bite of fudge pie. But maybe the "pecan pie goddess" will make a bean pie special just for you since you seem upset that you didn't get any.

Well man up and quit hiding behind anonymous tag. Also on this blog Iam not known as big sexy. I am Grand Marquis. However, I understand your difficulty in calling me anything other than sexy. So I will make a comprimise and you may call me Sexy Grand Marquis. You know that has a nice ring to it. I like this blog as well.

I shake my head everytime I read some of these comments ! Boy, was I raised in a "poker faced" home ! But, the comments on my "bean" pie are totally undeserved ! ! Michelle, I always liked to cook one different meal each week and let me save you a little time. Never make a Tuna Casserole with the tuna in oil ! ! ! Unless, you want to go out to dinner ! ! !

Guess I'll have to chime in - sounds like Michelle's taking cooking lessons mother in law - making pineapple upsidedown cake out of spam!!!

Of course, Colleen is now the family culinary arts genius - having learned how to cook the past semester! Thank God, she didn't have to learn from her mother. But, now that I'm thinking about her mix in classes, I have to laugh...she had small animal care (where they each had a bunny) AND then culinary arts....and then they were preparing and feeding the teachers...wonder if it was BUNNY a la mode!!???

EEEWE...I eat that food you talking about at school. I'll have to say, bunny or no bunny, it's delicious. They made this brownie dessert on Friday that no lie, tasted like a Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie. Colleen, thanks for adding 10 more pounds to Aunt Michelle this semester.

New Recipe, Old Recipe, no matter the Recipe, don't forget to check the oven before preheating it! Words of experience.

I am having flashbacks to firefighting efforts at Thanksgiving--anyone interested in going to Waffle House for Christmas Dinner? I hear they serve a mean Christmas menu!
